Berlin has no single telc B1 exam center. The exam is run by licensed language schools across the city, and by the Berlin Volkshochschulen (adult education centers), which organise their exams through one central office. At the centers below, the full telc B1 exam cost between €190 and €220 when we checked.

Good to know before you book in Berlin
- Volkshochschulen run one central exam office: In Berlin, the adult education centers do not run the telc B1 exam (Zertifikat Deutsch) district by district. It is organised by the Prüfungszentrale der Berliner Volkshochschulen, which publishes its own exam dates on berlin.de.
- Late registration and cancellation rules differ: Kapitel Zwei lists late registration as free. Hartnackschule accepts late registrations in some cases for €30 and charges €85 if you cancel after the deadline. GLS asks you to register at least 15 days before the exam.
- Only the written or only the oral part: If you need to re-sit one part, some centers offer it separately. Kapitel Zwei lists the written or oral part on its own at €175.

At the centers we checked on 29 September 2026, the full telc B1 exam cost between €190 (did deutsch-institut) and €220 (GLS, rising to €280 in 2027). Sprachenatelier charges €210 for external candidates and Kapitel Zwei €205. Fees change, so confirm with the center before you book.
Can I take the telc B1 exam at a Volkshochschule in Berlin?
Yes. The Berlin Volkshochschulen run the exam through their central office, the Prüfungszentrale der Berliner Volkshochschulen. Its dates are published on berlin.de, not on the individual district websites.
Is the telc B1 certificate accepted for citizenship in Berlin?
